Master the Basic Golf Swing - Making the Perfect Swing

To get success and pleasure out of a round of golf requires a great amount of self assurance and practice. By practicing the simple and fundamental skills of golf over and over will lead to a massively improved game. But, because every golfer is different due to their body types etc, no two people will have the same basic golf swing on the course.

To be good at golf you need to find a way to adapt your game to your body type. This will help you develop a basic golf swing that works best for you. Below are some useful tips that will help you achieve that perfect basic golf swing next time on the course.

Warm up

"Practice makes perfect", this is a saying that is used to become successful and achieve your goals in most sports. This is the only way to earn self assurance on the course. Before heading out for a round, you should spend a few minutes on the driving range. On the range, the warm up will allow you to loosen your muscles which will help you achieve a free and fluid basic golf swing. Starting with a wedge and making your way through the entire set of clubs right through to the driver will improve your ball striking skills and self assurance with each club. This is also a brilliant way to get a good feel of hitting the ball sweetly and minimise your risk of injury.

Giving the swing power

Golf is not a game where you can use your wrists, unlike badminton for instance. A lot of amateur golf players reply on the power in their arms and wrists for their basic golf swing. This might work for a few stokes but for consistency and stability you need to use the entire body, using the muscles of the trunk and legs as well as the arms and wrist for maximum power and the perfect golf swing. Balance is also another key point here. No basic golf swing is effective without good balance. It is like any building in any city. A building requires a solid foundation to be effective as does a basic golf swing. A good drill to achieve this is to hit some balls at the driving range with your feet roughly six inches apart. This will keep your balance great and will help you when you return to hitting your ball in your usual stance.

Noting the knees

On the backswing, put your body's weight on the inside of your right foot and keep a slight bend in the knee. Of course this is for a right handed basic golf swing, if you have a left handed basic golf swing, do the reverse. As to take the club backwards make sure the right knee is solid. This will help in using the power generated from your trunk and will send the ball flying. A lot of amateurs let the left knee give way towards the right leg in the backswing - avoid doing this at all costs!! This would make the hips sway and cause them to overturn. To deal with this on the backswing, you need to stabilize both knees. A good drill for overcoming this issue is to imagine that there is a basketball between your thighs and your knees should be stable enough to keep the ball up.

Golf Tournament- The Master

Golf Tournament is commonly known as 'The Masters'. It is also known as the 'US Masters' outside the USA. It is one of the biggest championships of golf.

Unlike the other championship, this tournament is always organized at the same place in US. It is played at Augusta National Golf Club, which is a private golf club. This tournament was initiated by Clifford Robert and Bobby Jones.

The Masters is considered as official money event on PGA Tour. If somebody wins this tournament, he gets a lot of privileges. His career can become secure. People receive money as well as membership on PGA tour.

As per the typical golf tournament formatting, the Masters Tournament is a 72-hole tournament. It is organized for more than four days.

It is organized under the rules of golf. These rules are defined by the United States Golf Association. Masters Tournament Committee defines some special rules as well.

As this tournament has a comparatively smaller field to other golf tournaments, groups are set of 3 players.

Each set is decided for the first 36 holes.
Once 36 holes have been played, a cut is made.

Participants who 'make the cut' are in one or both of these classifications:
(1) Minimum 44 scores plus ties
(2) Within 10 strokes of the minimum 36-hole score. It is set by the leader.

Tickets for the Masters are not expensive. However, they are extremely hard to get. Even the practice rounds can be hard to be watched.

Applications for these practice round tickets have to be made almost a year in advance. Successful candidates are chosen by random vote.
